Swimming Pool Chemical - TCCA
TCCA is the short name for Trichloroisocyanuric Acid. TCCA tablets are used as a disinfectant, algaecide, and bactericide. When added to the pool, it combines with water to give Hypochlorous Acid (HClO) and Cyanuric Acid. HCLO has high microbiological activity. It is capable of giving free chlorine to swimming pools. Cyanuric acid, a by-product of hydrolysis, acts as a stabiliser, and also as a preventing hypochlorous acid from being transformed into a hypochlorite ion (CLO-). Furthermore, Cyanuric Acid acts as a stabilizer and protects the free chlorine from sunlight.
TCCA-90 is the most common product available and contains 90% Chlorine. It is available in various forms and varied sizes such as granular, tablet, etc. TCCA Tablets are an excellent source of chlorine for the control of biofouling in swimming pools, industrial water systems and cooling water systems.

More about TCCA
What is TCCA?
TCCA stands for Trichloroisocyanuric Acid. Trichloroisocyanuric Acid is used to disinfect water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and other uses. It works by reacting with organic matter (like dirt) on surfaces to form hypochlorous acid, which kills germs.
TCCA is especially effective for water treatment purposes. It is popularly used in swimming pools as a disinfectant and even for drinking water treatment. This is possible because it is very safe when it comes in contact with the body and also when consumed with drinking water. It also helps with algae removal from industrial water supplies and the treatment of industrial or city sewage. Other uses included disinfection of petroleum well drilling slurry and sewage as well as the production of seawater cells.
Trichloroisocyanuric acid is great for general hygiene and disinfection purposes. It can be used for dishware disinfection, preventive disinfection of houses, hotels and public places. It is commonly used for hygiene and disease control in hospitals as well. It is effective for disinfection and preservation of fruits and vegetables, as well as livestock, including fish, silkworms, and poultry.
TCCA also has great applications in textile cleansing and bleaching, wool shrink resistance, paper insect resistance and rubber chlorination, amongst others.
The wide range of uses of TCCA include the following:
• Disinfection of civil sanitation and water
• Disinfection of swimming pools
• Disinfection of industrial water pretreatments
• Oxidizing micro biocide for cooling water systems
• Bleaching agent for cotton, gunning, chemical fabrics
• Animal husbandry and plant protection
• As an anti-shrink agent for woolens and battery materials
• As deodorizer in distilleries
• As a preservative in horticulture and aquaculture industries.
TCCA Tablets are more effective than liquid chlorine because it has a higher concentration of active ingredients. This means it will work faster and last longer. In addition, it is easier to apply evenly and consistently. Our TCCA 90 provides long-run effects to keep swimming pools free from bacterium and protoctist. TCCA 90 has been proven to be a better and more economical alternative to bleaching powder and sodium hypochlorite for all kinds of chlorination applications.
Method of Use for swimming pools
Calculate the required amount with respect to the pool size. Mix in half a bucket of water (around 5ltr). Stir well to mix. Pour this solution along the sides of the pool. Allow pool circulation for at least 1-2 hours before use. Adding granular chlorine at least once every two weeks is recommended.
The difference between TCCA and SDIC
TCCA and SDIC are both chemicals used as disinfectants, but they have some differences.
TCCA stands for Trichloroisocyanuric Acid, and it is a white crystalline powder or granular solid. It is commonly used as a disinfectant in swimming pools, drinking water, and industrial water treatment. TCCA is also used in the food industry for cleaning and disinfecting equipment.
SDIC stands for Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate, and it is a white powder or granular solid. It is also used as a disinfectant in swimming pools, drinking water, and industrial water treatment. SDIC is also used in the production of bleaching agents, as well as in the textile and paper industries.
The main difference between TCCA and SDIC is their chemical composition. TCCA contains chlorine, while SDIC contains both chlorine and sodium. Other difference:
1. Chlorine content. The chlorine content of TCCA is mostly 90%, but SDIC is 56% or 60%
2. Dissolve time. SDIC dissolves in water in minutes. But TCCA may take hours to dissolve.
3. Disinfection effect. TCCA has a more powerful disinfection effect than SDIC.
4. PH value.TCCA is an acid and can affect PH value when added to water. SDIC is neutral.
